For 30+ years, we have been a part of the Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST), known as the Landless Workers Movement in Brazil. This grassroots movement started in 1979 by rural workers who united to occupy unused land and turn it into farms. When we arrived, the land was neglected with dry soil and no vegetation. Since then, we have planted over 5,000 trees and with the implementation of organic biodynamics and eco-agriculture, we reforested the land back to its natural habitat. We feed 100+ families a week and provide free, weekly, boxes of food for families in need. The Sky High Grant allowed us to build a secure and comfortable home for our farm animals which provides them a better life and increases our own capacity for farm and advocacy work.
